LYCOMING CLAIMS
PAIR OF VOLLEYBALL ALL-STARS; INCLUDING MVP
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Middle Atlantic Corporation’s Freedom Conference
announced their all-star teams Thursday afternoon. Two Lycoming
College student-athletes were named to the teams.
Layne
Haverstock (So./Hesston, PA; Huntingdon)
was named a first-team all-star as a middle hitter and was also
dubbed the Freedom Conference Most Valuable Player. Haverstock led
the Warriors with 302 kills and 170 blocks this past season. She
also added 192 digs and 41 service aces. Her 4.19 kills per game
and 2.36 blocks per game both led the conference. Haverstock was
also named the MAC Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year last
season.
Seneca Reilly
(Fr./Athens, PA; Athens)
was named a second-team all-star as a setter. Reilly started all
19 matches at setter for Lycoming in her first year on the team.
She averaged 10.25 assists per game and also recorded 90 service
aces on the year. Her 90 aces were the most in the conference and
her assist average ranked third among all setters.
The
Warrior volleyball team went 10-9 in 2001 under the direction of
first-year head coach Tim McMahon.
