LYCOMING SWIMMERS SPLIT
CONFERENCE MEET

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s and women’s swim teams hosted Drew University on Saturday afternoon for a Middle Atlantic Conference match-up. Both meets were back and forth throughout, with the Warriors edging out the Rangers 106-96, while the Lady Warriors fell to the Lady Rangers 93-112.

For the men, freshman Chris DeZago (Sparkill, NY; Tappen Zee) led the way with a pair of victories in the 1650-yard freestyle (18:14.37) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.81). A.J. LeViere (Jr./Pittsburgh; Monsignor Bonner) returned after missing a meet due to injury to place first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.78. David DeZago (Fr./Sparkill, NY; Tappen Zee) picked up a first in the 400-yard IM, finishing in 4:41.04. In the 200-yard butterfly, Rob Neil (Fr./Dallas; Dallas) was the top finisher in 2:13.32. David Shiner (Sr./Camp Hill; Cumberland Valley) rounded out the Warriors’ individual winners, by outpacing his opponents in the 100-yard freestyle (0:51.64).

“This was a great win for the men’s team,” said head coach Kristian Stedji-Larsen. “The lead kept going back and forth, but we swam really well and pulled in out in the end.”

Andrea Rapach (So./Pittsford, NY; Mendon) was the top swimmer for the Lady Warriors, winning both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races. She swam a 0:25.40 in the 50, and a :57:04 in the 100. Rapach was also a member of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team, along with Melissa Crandell (So./Queensbury, NY; Queensbury), Katie Brennan (Jr./Stony Brook, NY; Ward Melville) and Jessica Amadore (Fr./Easton; Wilson).

Lycoming will be at home again next Saturday when they host Elizabethtown at 1 p.m.
