Awarded MVPs
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s and women’s swim teams held a
banquet this past weekend to celebrate their 2006-2007 season.
Head coach Jerry Hammaker welcomed the guests and honored
this year’s seniors.
After
dinner, senior captains Jessica Gough (Berwick, PA) and
Chris Dempsey (Newtown, PA), and sophomores Nichole
Zoller (Colonia, NJ) and Sean Berrier (Hughesville, PA)
were awarded the Teammate Award, voted on by their fellow
teammates for leadership, dedication and camaraderie.
Sophomore
Milvana Ban (Harrisburg, PA) and freshman John Dougherty
(Mountain Top, PA) took home Lycoming’s Most Valuable Player
honors. The award recognizes that these swimmers could be
counted on to score points whenever needed in multiple events.
The Coaches’
Award went to sophomores Jessie Gallagher (Cheltenham, PA)
and Brian Fausel (Burdett, NY) for their high level
of dedication to performance and improvement.
Finally,
senior women’s co-captains Gough and Amanda Scholwinski
(Philadelphia, PA) were honored with the prestigious Mort
Rauff Award, for overall individual excellence and team spirit.
At this
year’s Middle Atlantic Conference championships, Ban and senior
Amy Gatehouse (Bethel Park, PA) took first team
All-Conference. Eighteen individuals or relays took second team
honors. Earlier this semester, fourteen Lycoming swimmers were
named to the Conference’s Academic Honor Roll.
