Split Wins With Misericordia
Swimmers Celebrate
Senior Night
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—The men’s and women’s swim teams split wins
with Misericordia on Lycoming’s Senior Appreciation Night. The
men swam to a 113-72 victory, while the women dropped a
heartbreaker 103-102.
The Lady
Warriors showed their depth, keeping the meet close with only
three first place finishes. Milvana Ban (Harrisburg, PA)
grabbed the top spot in the 500 and 1000-yard freestyle events.
Senior Amy Gatehouse (Bethel Park, PA) took first in
100-yard breaststroke.
The men led
for most of the meet, but came on especially strong at the end.
Senior captain Chris Dempsey (Newtown, PA) won the
opening 1000-yard freestyle, but he was very narrowly topped by
Warrior freshman Austin Johnstone (Woodbine, MD) in the
500-yard free. Sean Houser won both the 50-free and 100-yard
backstroke, while John Dougherty took first in the 100 and
200-yard freestyle.
During the
second break of the meet, Lycoming announced its seniors in a
touching ceremony full of hugs and smiles. Besides Dempsey
and Gatehouse, Arianna Brawn Portsmouth, NH),
Libby Green (Roaring Spring, PA), Meghan Jacobi (Woodbury Hts.,
NJ), captain Amanda Scholwinski (Philadelphia, PA)
and co-captain and 2007 class president Jessica Gough
(Berwick, PA) were announced.
Lycoming’s
next meet is at Scranton on Saturday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m. |
