Success on the First Day of MACs
WILKES BARRE,
Pa.—On the first day of the Middle Atlantic Conference
Championships, Lycoming’s swim teams enjoyed success, especially
in the relays.
In the women’s
200-yard freestyle relay, Lycoming gained its highest finish of
the day. Coming in fourth was a team of Stephanie Conrad,
Amanda Scholwinski, Jess Gough and Caroline LeHota,
that shaved two seconds off of their seed time. The men’s 200-yard
free team, Brandon Good, Sean Berrier, John Dougherty and
Sean Houser placed sixth.
Sophomore
Milvana Ban placed ninth in the individual 500-yard freestyle,
while freshman Dougherty and senior Chris Dempsey took 11th
and 12th on the men’s side. In the women’s 220-yard
intermediate, Jessie Gallagher and Amy Gatehouse
placed 12 and 13 respectively, while Brian Fausel was 16th
for the men.
In the 50-yard
freestyle sprint, Lady Warrior freshman Caroline LeHota
rose to a 6th place finish, less than a second off of
the top place. Gough and Scholwinski took 10th
and 12th. For the men, freshman Sean Houser took
sixth and sophomore Brandon Good 16th.
The 400-yard
medley was the final event of night one. Lycoming’s women’s team
of Nicole Zoller, Amy Gatehouse, Jessie Gallagher and
Amanda Scholwinski grabbed sixth place. Meanwhile, Houser,
Dempsey, Fausel and Dougherty also took sixth for the
men.
On day two,
look for Ban and Dempsey to excel in the 400-yard IM, while Fausel
looks to shock the competition in his strong category, the
100-yard butterfly. Dougherty also hopes to step up in the
200-yard freestyle.
