WARRIOR SWIMMERS SPLIT AT
SCRANTON
SCRANTON,
Pa. – The Lycoming College swimming teams traveled to the
University of Scranton, Saturday afternoon. The Warriors split
with the Royals with the men winning 107-96, while the women
fell 75-130. Lycoming’s men are now 5-3 in dual meets this
season, while the Warrior women are now 4-4.
Lycoming’s
men were led by Chris Mungo (Jr./Boonton, N.J.; Montville
Twp.) and Steve Hawley (Jr./New Cumberland, Pa.; Trinity)
who each won two individual events. Mungo won the 200 IM and 200
breaststroke, while Hawley was fastest in the 50 and 100
freestyles. Both Mungo and Hawley also swam legs on a
first-place relay team. Jeff Swatkins (Jr./Guilford, Conn.;
Xavier) and Josh Hogan (Sr./Waverly, N.Y.; Waverly)
also picked up first-place finishes in the 200 butterfly and 200
backstroke, respectively.
The Warrior
women were led by Kelly Sykes (Jr./Willimantic, Conn.;
Windham) and Rebecca Fox (Sr./Middletown, N.J.;
Middletown South). Sykes won the 200 backstroke, placed
second in the 50 free, and swam a leg on a winning relay team.
Fox won the 200 breaststroke and placed second in both the 200
free and 200 IM.
Lycoming’s
swim team will be at home on Wednesday, January 19, when they
host King’s College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
