LYCOMING SWIM TEAMS EARN
ACADEMIC HONORS
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Both the
Lycoming College women’s and men’s swimming teams have been
awarded scholar All-American honors by the College Swimming
Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the 2003-2004 season.
The CSCAA awarded scholar All-American status to swimming teams
at all divisions which posted a combined team grade-point
average of 2.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
The Warrior women earned
an “Excellent” standard with a combined 3.22 GPA for the spring
2004 semester. Rebecca Fox (Jr./Middletown, N.J.; Middletown
South) and Erin Horsley (Jr./Allegany, N.Y.; Allegany
Central) led the squad with perfect 4.0 GPAs for the
semester.
Lycoming’s men also earned
an “Excellent” standard with a combined 3.01 GPA for the spring
2004 term. Steve Hawley (So./New Cumberland, Pa.; Trinity)
and Andrew Shurer (Fr./Clearfield, Pa.; Clearfield)
each posted perfect 4.0 GPAs for the semester.
“These awards help show
our continued commitment to the true student-athlete here at
Lycoming. Our swimmers achieve great things in the pool, but
even greater things in the classroom,” said Warrior head coach
Jerry Hammaker. “Our main objective is to educate young men and
women and to have them graduate within four years. The fact that
our swimmers can put in so many hours of hard work in training
and competition but still achieve such lofty status academically
is a tribute to them and their families.” |
