WARRIOR MEN’S SWIMMING FALLS
JUST SHORT AT BLOOMSBURG
BLOOMSBURG,
Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s swimming team traveled
to Division II Bloomsburg University, Tuesday evening, for a
dual meet. The Warriors swam well, but came up just short,
falling to the Huskies 87-117. Lycoming’s men are now 1-1 in
dual meets this season.
Several
Warriors finished among the top three in a pair of individual
events. Steve Hawley (Jr./New Cumberland, Pa.; Trinity)
led the way by winning the 100 back and placing second in the 50
free. Chris Dempsey (So./Newtown, Pa.; Notre Dame) added
a second place finish in the 1000 free, while coming in third in
the 500 free. Stuart Olsen (Jr./Evanston, Ill.; Evanston)
placed second in the 100 free and third in the 200 free.
Finally, Jeff Swatkins (Jr./Guilford, Conn.; Xavier)
chipped in a second place finish in the 200 IM and a third place
finish in the 100 butterfly.
Other
Lycoming swimmers with top-three finishes included: Josh
Hogan (Sr./Waverly, N.Y.; Waverly) – 2nd in the
100 fly; Seth Urffer (Fr./Allentown, Pa.; Parkland) – 2nd
in the 100 breaststroke; Jeff Field (Sr./Shamong, N.Y.;
Shawnee) – 3rd in the 1000 free; Mark Ross
(Jr./Laurens, N.Y.; Oneonta) – 3rd in the 100
free; Dustin Kimble (Jr./Williamsport, Pa.; Williamsport)
– 3rd in the 100 backstroke; and Chris Mungo
(Jr./Boonton, N.J.; Montville Township) – 3rd in
the 100 breaststroke.
“We swam a
strong meet against excellent competition,” said Warrior head
coach Jerry Hammaker. “I was pleased with our effort tonight.
Now we’ll get ready to travel to Albright this weekend.” |
