WARRIOR
SWIMMERS SWEEP FDU-FLORHAM AND LEBANON VALLEY
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College swimming teams hosted
FDU-Florham and Lebanon Valley College, Saturday afternoon, for
a double-dual meet. Both the Warrior men and women cruised to
victories over the two visiting squads. Lycoming’s men defeated
FDU 60-19, and Lebanon Valley 58-37. The Warrior women topped
FDU 60-33 and Lebanon Valley 63-30. Lycoming’s men conclude the
dual meet season with a record of 9-2. The Warrior women end
their dual meet season with a mark of 7-3.
Lycoming’s
women swept all 11 events versus both FDU and Lebanon Valley.
They were led by Kellie Cicconi (Fr./Odessa, N.Y.;
Odessa-Montour Central) and Erin Horsley (Jr./Allegany,
N.Y.; Allegany Central) who each won two individual events.
Cicconi won the 50 and 100 freestyles, and Horsley won the 400
IM and 500 free.
Other
individual winners for the Warriors included: Rebecca Fox
(Jr./Middletown, N.J.; Middletown South) in the 1000 free;
Erin Patrick (Jr./Media, Pa.; Penncrest) in the 200 free;
Tracey Fausel (Jr./Burdett, N.Y.; Watkins Glen) in the
100 fly; Kelly Sykes (So./Willimantic, Conn.; Windham) in
the 100 back; and Nesma Karedis (So./Orefield, Pa.;
Middletown) in the 100 breaststroke.
Lycoming’s
men won 10-of-11 events against both FDU and Lebanon Valley, led
by Chris Dempsey (Fr./Newtown, Pa.; Notre Dame) and
Nathan DeCapria (So./Jersey Shore, Pa.; Central Mountain)
with two victories each. Dempsey won the 400 IM with a record
breaking time of 4:27.14 – surpassing the previous mark of
4:31.23 set last season by Chris Mungo. He also won the 500
free. DeCapria was the top finisher in both the 50 and 100
freestyles.
Four other
Warriors were individual winners: Stuart Olsen (Evanston,
Ill.; Evanston) in the 200 free; Josh Hogan (Jr./Waverly,
N.Y.; Waverly) in the 100 fly; Steve Hawley (So./New
Cumberland, Pa.; Trinity) in the 100 back; and Chris
Mungo (So./Boonton, N.J.; Montville Twp.) in the 100
breaststroke.
“This was a
very good meet for us,” said Lycoming head coach Jerry Hammaker.
“Both teams swam very well turning in some quick times. We
qualified some more folks for the conference championship meet
and lowered some seed times. This was a nice finish to the dual
meet season and will give us some momentum as we prepare for the
MAC championships in a few weeks.” |
