LYCOMING MEN PLACE THIRD, WOMEN FIFTH AT MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College swimming teams wrapped up competition at the 2004 Middle Atlantic Conference championships, Sunday evening. The Warrior men finished in third place with 445 points and the women placed fifth with 385 points.

During the final day of competition, Lycoming’s men were led by the 400-free relay team of Stuart Olsen (So./Evanston, Ill.; Evanston), Steve Hawley (So./New Cumberland, Pa.; Trinity), Jeff Swatkins (So./Guilford, Conn.; Xavier), and Nathan DeCapria (So./Jeresey Shore, Pa.; Central Mountain) that finished second with a time of 3:13.53, setting a new school record in the process.

Swatkins also added a fourth place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:02.25 and set a new school mark with his prelim time of 2:01.68. Olsen and Chris Mungo (So./Boonton, N.J.; Montville) each chipped in a sixth-place finish in the 100 free and 200 breaststroke, respectively.

The women were led by Kelly Sykes (So./Willimantic, Conn.; Windham) who placed fourth in the 200 backstoke with a time of 2:16.96. Rebecca Fox (Jr./Middletown, N.J.; Middletown South) placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke and Erin Horsley (Jr./Allegany, N.Y.; Allegany Central) came in sixth in the 200 butterfly.
