LYCOMING SWIM TEAMS SPLIT DUAL
MEETS AT W&J
WASHINGTON,
Pa. – The Lycoming College swimming teams traveled to
Washington & Jefferson College, Saturday afternoon, for a
double-dual meet with the host Presidents and Elizabethtown
College. Both the Warrior women and the Warrior men split their
matches, defeating Elizabethtown, but falling to W&J. Lycoming’s
women (3-2) topped the Blue Jays 78-17, but fell to the
Presidents 40-53. The Warrior men (3-3) defeated Elizabethtown
75-20, while dropping a 37-57 decision to W&J.
Rebecca Fox
(Sr./Middletown, N.J.; Middletown South)
led the women with a pair of first-place finishes. Fox won the
200 IM and the 500 free. Kelly Sykes (Jr./Willimantic, Conn.;
Windham) added a first-place in the 100 backstroke, while
also picking up a third-place in the 200 free. Erin Patrick
(Sr./Media, Pa.; Penncrest) contributed a second-place in
the 50 free and a third-place in the 100 free.
Other place
winners for the Lycoming women included: Steph Kudrick
(Fr./Coudersport, Pa.; Coudersport) – 1st in the
100 breaststroke; Amy Gatehouse (So./Bethel Park, Pa.; Bethel
Park) – 2nd in the 100 breaststroke; Erin
Horsley (Sr./Allegany, N.Y.; Allegany Central) – 2nd
in the 500 free; Lacey Pietropaolo (Jr./Victor, N.Y.; Victor
Central) – 3rd in the 1000 free; and Ashley
Klappholz (Jr./Cranford, N.J.; Cranford) – 3rd in
the 100 butterfly.
Steve Hawley
(Jr./New Cumberland, Pa.; Trinity)
led the Warrior men with first-place finishes in the 50 free and
100 back. Chris Dempsey (So./Newtown, Pa.; Notre Dame)
added a first-place in the 1000 free and a third-place in the
500 free. Jeff Swatkins (Jr./Guilford, Conn.; Xavier) and
Stuart Olsen (Jr./Evanston, Ill.; Evanston) each placed
in two events, as well. Swatkins came in second in the 200 IM
and third in the 100 butterfly. Olsen placed third in both the
100 and 200 frees. Dustin Kimble (Jr./Williamsport, Pa.;
Williamsport) and Chris Mungo (Jr./Boonton, N.J.;
Montville Twp.) came in second and third, respectively in
the 100 breaststroke.
Both
Lycoming swimming teams will be in action again on Saturday,
November 20, when they host Drew University for a dual meet. |
