WARRIOR SWIM TEAMS SWEEP
MISERICORDIA
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College swimming teams
hosted College Misericordia, Wednesday evening, for a dual meet.
Both the Warrior women and men defeated the Cougars – the women
133-72 and the men 126-79. Lycoming’s women improve to 2-1 and
the men even their record at 2-2.
Rebecca Fox
(Sr./Middletown, N.J.; Middletown South)
led the Warrior women by winning three individual events. Fox
won the 1000 freestyle, the 200 IM, and the 500 freestyle.
Kelly Sykes (Jr./Willimantic, Conn.; Windham) added
victories in the 200 free and 100 backstroke. Other individual
winners for Lycoming included: Jessica Gough (So./Berwick,
Pa.; Berwick) in the 50 free; Erin Patrick (Sr./Media,
Pa.; Penncrest) in the 100 free; and Steph Kudrick
(Fr./Coudersport, Pa.; Coudersport) in the 100 breaststroke.
For the men,
Josh Hogan (Sr./Waverly, N.Y.; Waverly) and Steve
Hawley (Jr./New Cumberland, Pa.; Trinity) each won two
events. Hogan was first to finish in the 200 free and 100
butterfly. Hawley won the 50 free and 100 backstroke. Jeff
Swatkins (Jr./Guilford, Conn.; Xavier) added a victory in
the 200 IM, and Stuart Olsen (Jr./Evanston, Ill.; Evanston)
chipped in a win in the 100 free.
“We had some
really nice swims tonight,” said Lycoming head coach Jerry
Hammaker. “Steve Hawley’s time in the 50 free was
outstanding for this point in the season. Rebecca Fox swam very
well in the 200 IM, especially coming back from the 1000 free.
And Steph Kudrick turned in a good time in the 100 breaststroke.
Overall it was a solid effort in our first home meet to get a
pair of victories over a much-improved team.”
The Warriors
will compete again this Saturday when they travel to Washington
& Jefferson College for a double-dual meet with Elizabethtown
College. |
