SWIM TEAMS SWEEP ELIZABETHTOWN
MEN BREAK THREE RECORDS
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College swimming teams hosted Elizabethtown
College, Wednesday evening, for their final home meet of the
season. Both teams found success with the women winning 103-87 and
the men winning 115-52. The Warrior women improve to 5-3 and the
men are now 6-2 overall.
The men’s team
continued their assault on the program’s record books by setting
three new records during the meet. Nathan DeCapria (Fr./Jersey
Shore, PA; Central Mountain) set a new mark in the 100 free
with a time of :48:02, defeating the defending MAC 100 free
champion in the process.
DeCapria also
played a role in two record-breaking relays. He teamed up with Steve
Hawley (Fr./New Cumberland, PA; Trinity), Matt Thompson
(Sr./Canisteo, NY; Canisteo Central), and Josh Hogan
(So./Waverly, NY; Waverly) to set a new standard of 1:41.19 in
the 200-medley relay. He also swam a leg of the 200-free relay,
along with Hawley, Thompson, and Tim Roche (Fr./Wyndmoor, PA;
Springfield). That team posted a 1:28.14 as the new record.
Hogan and Chris
Mungo (Fr./Boonton, NJ; Boonton) were double-winners for the
Warriors. Hogan won the 100 fly and 100 back, while Mungo won the
1000 free and 200 IM. Other event winners included Hawley in the
50 free, Dustin Long (Fr./Halifax, PA; Halifax) in the 100
breaststroke, and Stuart Olsen (Fr./Evanston, IL; Evanston
Twp.) in the 500 free.
For the women’s
team, three student-athletes were double-winners for Lycoming. Erin
Horsley (So./Allegany, NY; Allegany) won both the 1000 free
and 100 fly. Andrea Rapach (Sr./Pittsford, NY; Pittsford
Mendon) won the 50 and 100 free, and Rebecca Fox
(So./Middletown, NJ; Middletown) won the 200 IM and 500 free.
The
Warrior swimmers are in action again on Saturday, February 1, when
they travel to Lebanon Valley College for a tri-meet with the
Dutchmen and FDU-Florham.
