WARRIOR SWIM TEAMS PERFORM WELL AT CLARION INVITATIONAL

CLARION, PA – The Lycoming College swimming team opened its season, Saturday afternoon, at Clarion University. Both the men’s and women’s squads performed well against Division II competition in the eight-team invitational. The Warrior men placed third as a team while the women came in sixth.

Leading the way for the men were a trio of relay teams. Lycoming took first place in both the 400- and 200-free relays, as well as a second place finish in the 200-medley relay.

Nathan DeCapria (So./Jersey Shore, Pa.; Central Mountain) won the 50 free and placed second in the 100 free. Chris Dempsey (Fr./Newtown, Pa.; Notre Dame) added a victory in the 1,650 free and a third place finish in the 400 IM. Josh Hogan (Jr./Waverly, N.Y.; Waverly) rounded out the Warriors’ top performers with a third place in the 100 fly.

“We swam tired but did well,” said Lycoming head coach Jerry Hammaker. “We set some good benchmarks for the season and some baselines from which the swimmers can improve. Now we’re looking forward to starting our dual-meet season the first week in November.”
