LYCOMING’S DECAPRIA PLACES IN 100 FREE AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

ATLANTA, GA – Lycoming College freshman Nathan DeCapria (Jersey Shore, PA; Central Mountain) capped a dream weekend at the NCAA Division III National Swimming Championships by placing 16^th in the 100-yard freestyle, Saturday evening.

DeCapria entered the 100 free as an optional event and was seeded 45^th out of 50 swimmers entering the race. In the preliminaries, however, he turned in his fastest time of the season, swimming a school-record :46.24 to earn the 11^th seed in the finals. DeCapria was unable to repeat his performance in the finals, but still swam a :47.03 to earn 16^th place in the event.

Two days earlier, DeCapria became the first member of the Lycoming men’s swimming program to be named an All-American when he placed second in the 50 free.

DeCapria also earned 18 team-points for the Warriors, giving them their highest national finish ever in 32^nd place.
