SWIM TEAMS SWEEP KING’S
MEN BREAK TWO RECORDS
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College swimming teams hosted King’s College
for a Freedom Conference dual meet, Wednesday evening. Both the
Warrior teams picked up easy victories, the women defeating the
Monrachs 103-69, and the men defeating King’s 106-34. Lycoming
women improve to 4-2, while the men improve to 5-1.
The
men highlighted the meet by setting two new school records in the
relay events. Steve Hawley (Fr./New Cumberland, PA; Trinity),
Dustin Long (Fr./Halifax, PA; Halifax), Nathan DeCapria
(Fr./Jersey Shore, PA; Central Mountain) and Tim Roche
(Fr./Wyndmoor, PA; Springfield) set a new standard of 1:42.19
in the 200 medley relay. Hawley, Roche, and DeCapria teamed up
with Matt Thompson (Sr./Canisteo, NY; Canisteo Central) in
the 200 free relay to set a new record of 1:28.37, surpassing the
old mark of 1:29.57 by more than a second.
In
addition to his role on the two relays, Long also won the 400 IM
and 100 breaststroke. Stuart Olsen (Fr./Evanston, IL; Evanston
Twp.) and Josh Hogan (So./Waverly, NY; Waverly) also
each won two individual events – Olsen in the 500 and 1000
frees, and Hogan in the 100 fly and 100 back. Other winners for
Warriors were: Chris Mungo (Fr./Boonton, NJ; Boonton) in
the 200 free; Hawley in the 100 free; and Thompson in the 50 free.
For
the women, Erin Horsley (So./Allegany, NY; Allegany Central)
led the way winning two individual events. Horsley finished first
in the 200 free and 100 fly. Seven other swimmers won an
individual event for Lycoming, including: Tracey Fausel
(So./Burdett, NY; Watkins Glen Central) in the 1000 free; Rebecca
Fox (So./Middletown, NJ; Middletown South) in the 50 free; Kelly
Sykes (Fr./Willimantic, CT; Windham) in the 400 IM; Jess
Amadore (Jr./Easton, PA; Wilson) in the 100 free; Andrea
Rapach (Sr./Pittsford, NY; Pittsford Mendon) in the 100 back; Heather
Sayce (So./Nashua, NH; Nashua) in the 500 free; and Sue
Slepetz (Sr./Wescosville, PA; Emmaus) in the 100 breaststroke.
The
Warriors will be in the pool again on Saturday, January 25, when
they travel to Albright College.
