TEAMS SPLIT MEET AT SCRANTON
DECAPRIA SETS SCHOOL RECORD
SCRANTON, PA –
The Lycoming College women’s and men’s swimming teams traveled
to the University of Scranton, Saturday afternoon, for their first
competition since the middle of December. The Warriors came home
with mixed results as the men defeated the Royals 113-98, but the
women fell 78-127. Lycoming men are now 4-1 overall, while the
women drop to 3-2 on the season.
Nathan
DeCapria (Fr./Jersey Shore, PA; Central Mountain)
highlighted the meet by breaking the school record in the 100
freestyle. DeCapria swam a :48.46 to win the event and surpass the
previous mark of :49.07 set by Kevin Barrett in 1994.
Steve Hawley
(Fr./New Cumberland, PA; Trinity)
and Josh Hogan (So./Waverly, NY; Waverly) were also
individual winners for the men. Hawley won the 50 freestyle and
Hogan won the 200 backstroke. The Warriors also won both the 400
medley and 400 freestyle relays.
On the women’s
side, Lycoming also claimed three individual event winners. Rebecca
Fox (So./Middletown, NJ; Middletown) won the 200 freestyle, Andrea
Rapach (Sr./Pittsford, NY; Pittsford Mendon) won the 50
freestyle, and Kelly Sykes (Fr./Willimantic, CT; Windham)
won the 200 backstroke.
Lycoming will be
at home for their next swim meet, hosting King’s College on
Wednesday, January 22. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
