WARRIOR MEN’S
SWIMMING OPENS SEASON VERSUS BLOOMSBURG
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College men’s swimming team kicked off their
season with a home meet against Division II Bloomsburg University.
The Warriors swam well but could not match the Huskies’ depth,
falling 124-116.
Josh Hogan
(Fr./Waverly, NY; Waverly)
had an impressive collegiate debut winning both the 100 and 200
backstrokes. Chris Rager (Sr./Camp Hill, PA; Cumberland Valley),
Greg Brown (Sr./Mechanicsburg, PA; Cumberland Valley), and Rob
Neil (Jr./Dallas, PA; Dallas) also picked up individual
victories. Rager won the 100 free, Brown won the 200 IM, and Neil
won the 100 fly.
The Warriors
claimed another first place in the 200 free relay. Hogan, Brown,
Rager, and Matt Thompson (Jr./Canisteo, NY; Canisteo Central)
teamed up for the win.
“We did an
outstanding job tonight,” said Lycoming Head Coach Jerry
Hammaker. “We didn’t take a break from our training at all, so
these guys were swimming tired but they were also swimming fast.
That’s very encouraging at this point in the season. Honesty, I
was a bit surprised by how well everyone performed tonight.”
Both
the women and men’s squads will be in action again on Thursday
when the team travels to College Misericordia.
