LYCOMING SWIMMING PERFORMS WELL IN DOUBLE DUAL

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Lycoming College women’s and men’s swimming teams traveled to Elizabethtown College Saturday afternoon for a double-dual meet with Etown and Washington & Jefferson. The women’s squad returned home with a pair of victories, defeating the host Blue Jays, 70-26, and the Presidents, 61-35. The men split their meets, topping Etown, 70-25, but falling to W&J 35-60.

Rebecca Fox (Fr./Middletown, NJ; Middletown) continues to lead the Warrior women. Fox won three events in the meet, placing first in the 1000 free, 200 IM, and 500 free. Jess Amadore (So./Easton, PA; Wilson), Karen Turpin (So./West Windsor, NJ; Princeton), Pacy Austin (Fr./St. Michaels, MD; Saint Michael’s), and Andrea Rapach (Jr./Pittsford, NY; Pittsford Mendon) each won events as well. Amadore won the 50 free, Turpin won the 200 fly, Austin won the 200 free, and Rapach won the 100 free.

On the men’s side, Chris DeZago (So./Sparkill, NY; Tappen Zee) and Josh Hogan (Fr./Waverly, NY; Waverly) each won a pair of races. DeZago finished first in the 1000 and 500 frees. Hogan won the 200 IM and 200 backstroke.

Rob Neil (Jr./Dallas, PA; Dallas) picked up a first place in the 200 butterfly; Chris Rager (Sr./Camp Hill, PA; Cumberland Valley) won the 100 free; and Matt Thompson (Jr./Caniesto, NY; Caniesto Central) added a win in the 200 breaststroke.

“This has been a meet we were looking at to see exactly where we stand as a team. The women picked up a pair of wins against quality opponents to remain undefeated and we couldn’t be happier,” said Lycoming Head Coach Jerry Hammaker. “The men did exactly what we wanted, we came in looking for at least a split and they did that. Everyone is swimming very well right now and we’re still training hard, so I think we have a lot to look forward to in the weeks ahead.”

Lycoming’s women now stand at 6-0 overall, while the men are 2-2 on the year.
