WARRIOR
WOMEN’S SWIMMING IMPROVES TO 4-0
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College women’s swimming team upped their
record to 4-0 with a 126-68 victory over Mansfield University
Wednesday evening. The win was the Warriors’ second over a
Division II program in a week.
Freshman Rebecca
Fox (Middletown, NJ; Middletown) again led the way for
Lycoming, winning two individual events and setting her third
school record. Fox took first place in the 1650 free and the 400
IM. The school record was broken in the 1650, where Fox lowered
the standard by 28 seconds.
Andrea Rapach
(Jr./Pittsford, NY; Pittsford Mendon)
also won a pair of events, finishing first in the 50 and 100
freestyles. Pacy Austin (Fr./St. Michaels, MD; Saint
Michael’s) and Karen Turpin (So./West Windsor, NJ;
Princeton) added individual victories in the 200 free and 100
butterfly, respectively. Lycoming won both relays as well.
“I’m
extremely pleased with how we are swimming right now. Rebecca Fox
demolished the school record in the mile and then turned right
around to post a very good time in the 400 IM, just an incredible
performance,” said Lycoming Head Coach Jerry Hammaker.
“Another highlight was Erin Patrick [(Fr./Media, PA;
Penncrest)]. She took second in the 100 free, but really got
her time down where we need it to be.
“This
Saturday at Elizabethtown will be a great indication of exactly
how good we are. W&J will give us a very tough meet.”
