Christen Ditzler will enter her
15th season as head coach of the Warrior softball team in 2007.
She took control of the program in just its fourth year of
existence and immediately turned it into a winner. In her first
season, Lycoming recorded the program's first winning season with
a record of 9-5. One year later, the Warriors went 15-5 and made
their first appearance in the conference playoffs. Lycoming has
qualified for the conference tournament 10 more times since
1994.
During the 14 seasons under her
direction, Lycoming softball has compiled a record of 233-140-1,
recorded 11 winning seasons, and qualified for the Middle Atlantic
Conference playoffs 11 times. The Warriors have also
tallied five 20-win seasons during her tenure, including 1995 when
the team went 22-8 and won the MAC Championship, and 2003
when they equaled the program's all-time high for wins with a
record of 22-12-1.
A native of Annville, Pennsylvania,
Ditzler attended Franklin and Marshall College where she was a
member of the basketball team for four years. During her
collegiate career, she was named an MAC All-Star twice and
finished her career as Franklin and Marshall's sixth-leading
scorer.
Ditzler began her coaching career
in 1990 as a basketball graduate assistant at West Chester
University. She later was a full-time assistant basketball coach
at Millersville University. Ditzler came to Lycoming in 1992 as an
assistant basketball coach and head softball coach. One year later
she took on the head coaching responsibilities for the basketball
program as well.
Ditzler's basketball teams have
been just as successful as her softball teams. In 13 seasons
under her direction the program has gone 165-155 and finished
seven
seasons with a winning record. She has guided six teams to the
conference tournament and her 1996-97 squad qualified for the NCAA
Division III
tournament.
