Softball Drops Two to Drew

MADISON, NJ—Lycoming’s softball team (1-5, 1-5) dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Drew University (11-7, 2-2) on Sunday, losing by scores of 10-0 and 8-0.

In the opening game, senior centerfielder Melissa McCoy (Williamsport, PA/Jersey Shore) had the Lady Warriors only hit. Starter Katie Shaw (Bellefonte, PA/Bald Eagle Area) took the loss with four innings of work. The game was abbreviated by the eight-run rule.

In the second game, freshman Jessica Nabholz (Cressona, PA/Blue Mountain) stood out with a pair of hits. Nabholz also pitched 4.1 innings, striking out two and giving up just three earned runs. Junior Hilarie Powers (State College, PA/State College) garnered Lycoming’s only other hit.

Drew’s Kerry Crowley set the school’s single-season record with her fourth homerun of the year in the first game. Lady Ranger Melissa Kraft went 6-6 in the two games.

The Lady Warriors return home to play FDU-Florham this Friday, April 6^th at 1:00 p.m. at Shangraw Athletic Complex.
