SOFTBALL SWEEPS FDU-MADISON
MADISON,
NJ - The Lycoming College softball team traveled to FDU-Madison,
Friday afternoon, for an MAC Freedom Conference doubleheader. The
Warriors returned home with a pair of shutout victories, defeating
the Devils 1-0 in the first game and 3-0 in the nightcap. The wins
improve Lycoming's record to 9-6 overall and 4-2 within the
conference.
In the opening game, the Warriors scored their lone run in the
fourth inning when Amy Curry (Fr./Fallentimber, PA; Moshannon
Valley) drove in Adrienne Wydra (Sr./Ashland, PA; North
Schuylkill). The victory came behind the strong pitching of
freshman Amanda Gery (Whitehall, PA; Whitehall) who recorded her
third consecutive shutout. She has now pitched 25 consecutive
innings without allowing a run.
In the second game, Lycoming got all the offense they needed in
the first inning with one swing of the bat. Jess Feerrar (Jr./Lock
Haven, PA; Lock Haven) connected for a two-run homerun - her
second round-tripper of the season. She later scored on a triple
by Curry to add a third run to the Warriors' total. However, one
run was all that was needed due to the effort of Laurie Rooney
(So./Audubon, NJ; Audubon) who pitched seven innings of shutout
ball.
Lycoming is in action again on Tuesday, April 2, when they travel
to Messiah College.
