SOFTBALL FALLS SHORT AT KING’S
WILKES-BARRE,
PA – The Lycoming College softball team traveled to King’s
College, Saturday afternoon, to compete in their final
doubleheader of the regular season. The Warriors were held to just
one run in each game as they fell 4-1 in the first and 6-1 in the
nightcap. Lycoming completes the regular season with a record of
17-15 overall and 8-6 within the conference. The Monarchs improve
to 28-5-1 and 10-2.
The Warriors
scored in their first at bat of the opening game when Amy Curry
(Fr./Fallentimber, PA; Moshannon Valley) doubled home Marianne
Simpson (Fr./Camp Hill, PA; Camp Hill) who had reached on an
error. King’s, however, tied the game in their half of the first
frame and added three more runs in the fifth inning to post the
4-1 victory. Amanda Gery (Fr./Whitehall, PA; Whitehall)
suffered the loss on the mound despite allowing just one earned
run.
In the second
game, Lycoming again scored first when Curry hit her fourth
homerun of the season in the second inning. But the Monarchs
answered in their half of the second and went on to add four runs
in the third and another in the fifth. Laurie Rooney
(So./Audubon, NJ; Audubon) suffered the loss on the mound.
