LYCOMING SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH LEBANON VALLEY

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College softball team hosted Lebanon Valley College for a non-conference doubleheader, Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors shut the Flying Dutchmen out in the opening game, picking up the 7-0 victory. In the second game, Lycoming carried a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning, but could not close the door as Lebanon Valley came back to win 3-1. The Warriors are now 6-5 overall, while the Flying Dutchmen move to 7-4.

Amy Curry (Fr./Fallentimber, PA; Moshannon Valley) drove in two runs and hit her first collegiate homerun to lead Lycoming’s offense. Katie Kresge (So./Lehighton, PA; Marian Catholic) added two hits and one RBI. Marianne Simpson (Fr./Camp Hill, PA; Camp Hill) also drove in one run.

Amanda Gery (Fr./Whitehall, PA; Whitehall) went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits while striking out two batters. The shutout is her second of the season.

In the second game, Laurie Rooney (So./Audubon, NJ; Audubon) carried a perfect game and a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning before giving up three runs on three hits. Lebanon Valley was also aided by two errors in the inning. Rooney had also produced the Warriors’ only run on an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. Jess Feerrar (Jr./Lock Haven, PA; Lock Haven) led the team with two hits in the game.

Lycoming will be at home again on Saturday, March 23, when they host Drew University for a conference doubleheader.
