WARRIOR
SOFTBALL DROPS A PAIR TO MISERICORDIA
DALLAS, PA
The Lycoming College softball team took a break from conference
competition, Thursday afternoon, to challenge College Misericordia
in a doubleheader. The Warriors, however, came up on the short end
of both contests falling 9-4 in the first and 4-1 in the second.
Lycoming is now 17-13 overall this season.
Lycoming posted
two runs in their first turn at bat in the opening game, but the
Cougars came back with six runs of their own in the bottom of the
frame. Dara Dietrich (Sr./Pitman, PA; Tri-Valley) and Katie
Kresge (So./Lehighton, PA; Marian Catholic) both went 2-3 with
a run-batted-in in the game. Jessica Feerrar (Jr./Lock Haven,
PA; Lock Haven) also collected two hits, including a double,
and scored a run. Marianne Simpson (Fr./Camp Hill, PA; Camp
Hill) suffered the loss in her first collegiate start.
In the second
game, Misericordia scored one in the first and sixth while posting
two runs in the third. The Warriors scored their lone run in the
fifth inning when Amy Curry (Fr./Fallentimber, PA; Moshannon
Valley) singled home Feerrar following her second double of
the twin bill. Crystal Hampton (So./Catawissa, PA; Southern
Columbia) went 3-for-3 from the plate in the contest. Adrienne
Wydra (Sr./Ashland, PA; North Schuylkill) and Simpson each
added two hits apiece. Hampton suffered the loss despite allowing
just two earned runs while striking out three.
Lycoming wraps
up their regular season schedule with a conference doubleheader at
Kings College on Saturday.
