SOFTBALL SPLITS TWIN BILL WITH DESALES
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College softball team opened up their home
schedule and conference competition, Saturday afternoon, by
hosting DeSales University for a doubleheader. The Warriors
dropped the first game 3-1 before rebounding to defeat the
Bulldogs, 12-4, in the nightcap. Lycoming moves to 5-4 while
DeSales now stands at 6-4 overall. Both teams are 1-1 in the
conference.
In the opening
game, the Bulldogs used a three-run third inning to take a lead
they would never lose. The Warriors tallied their lone run in the
fourth inning when Jessica Feerrar (Jr./Lock Haven, PA; Lock
Haven) doubled home Adrienne Wydra (Sr./Ashland, PA; North
Schuylkill), who had two hits in the game. Dara Dietrich
(Sr./Pitman, PA; Tri-Valley) and Katie Kresge
(So./Lehighton, PA; Marian Catholic) also had hits for
Lycoming.
Amanda Gery
(Fr./Whitehall, PA; Whitehall)
went the distance on the mound allowing three runs on 13 hits
while striking out two batters.
In the second
game, the Warriors scored eight runs in the bottom of the first en
route to a 12-4 victory. Wydra drove in three runs on one hit and
scored a pair of runs. Laurie Rooney (So./Audubon, NJ; Audubon)
drove in two runs on two hits. Kresge, Alicia Madigan
(Fr./Waverly, NY; Waverly), and Amy Curry (Fr./Fallentimber,
PA; Moshannon Valley) each collected two hits as well.
Rooney picked
up the complete game as pitcher. She allowed four runs on 10 hits
and struck out one batter.
Lycoming will
be at home again on Tuesday, March 19, when they host Lebanon
Valley College for a non-conference doubleheader.
