SOFTBALL SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER AT DELAWARE VALLEY
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College softball team traveled to Delaware
Valley College, Sunday afternoon, for their second Freedom
Conference doubleheader in as many days. The Warriors defeated the
Aggies 6-1 in the opening game, but dropped the second game 9-4.
Lycoming is now 16-11 overall and 8-4 within the conference.
Delaware Valley moves to 7-19 and 1-11.
In the first
game, the Warriors used a five-run fifth inning to overcome a 1-0
deficit en route to a 6-1 victory. Amy Curry (Fr./Fallentimber,
PA; Moshannon Valley) led the offense with two hits and one
RBI. Amanda Gery (Fr./Whitehall, PA: Whitehall) picked up
her 11th win of the season, allowing just two hits and
one run while striking out six.
In the
nightcap, Lycoming scored four runs in the second to take a 4-1
advantage only to have the Aggies put up eight runs in the bottom
of the frame. Jess Feerrar (Jr./Lock Haven, PA; Lock Haven),
Dara Dietrich (Sr./Pitman, PA; Tri-Valley), and Alicia
Madigan (Fr./Waverly, NY; Waverly) each collected a pair of
hits for the Warriors. Crystal Hampton (So./Catawissa, PA;
Southern Columbia) started on the mound for Lycoming but
lasted just an inning and a third. Gery pitched four and
two-thirds innings of relief allowing three hits and no runs while
striking out three.
The Warriors
will host Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, April 17, for the
next contest.
