SOFTBALL DROPS PAIR TO EAGLES
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College softball team took a break from
conference play, Wednesday afternoon, to host Juniata College for
a doubleheader. The Warriors dropped both ends of the twin bill by
scores of 6-4 and 11-4, respectively. Lycoming is now 13-10
overall, while the Eagles are 10-8.
In the opening
game, the Warriors played even with Juniata for seven innings but
the Eagles scored four runs in their half of the eighth and then
hung on for the extra innings victory. Adrienne Wydra
(Sr./Ashland, PA; North Schuylkill) was 4-for-4 in the game
and scored three runs. Marianne Simpson (Fr./Camp Hill, PA;
Camp Hill) collected two hits and two RBI. Amanda Gery
(Fr./Whitehall, PA; Whitehall) suffered the loss on the mound
despite striking out seven batters.
In the second
game, Lycoming again played even with Juniata through six innings
but the Eagles exploded for eight runs in their final two at-bats
to cruise to an 11-4 win. Amy Curry (Fr./Fallentimber, PA;
Moshannon Valley) led the Warriors’ offense with a pair of
hits and two RBI. Wydra also collected two hits, while scoring a
run and driving in another. Crystal Hampton (So./Catawissa, PA;
Southern Columbia) took the loss on the mound.
Lycoming will
be at home again for their next contest on Saturday, April 13,
when they host Wilkes University for a conference doubleheader.
The first game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
