Warriors Compete
in MAC Individual Tournament
Byerly Wins Two First
Matches
BETHLEHEM,
Pa.—Head men’s tennis coach John Dorner took five Warriors to
Moravian College on Saturday, April 28 for the MAC Individual
Tournament.
Lycoming’s
number-one, senior Mike Byerly (West Milton, PA), won his
first singles match 6-1, 6-2 over Dave Scherler of Albright.
However, Byerly was then knocked out of the tournament 6-0, 6-1 by
Erik Vargo of Lebanon Valley. Byerly was unseeded entering the
day, Vargo is a second seed.
Byerly later
joined sophomore John Stutzman (Williamsport, PA) for the
number-one doubles bracket. Byerly/Stutzman won their first match
8-3 over Susquehanna’s first team, consisting of Todd Adams
and Matt Mitchell. Unfortunately, Byerly/Stutzman were then
removed by the number-two seeded Moravian team.
At second
singles, Colin Baier (Montoursville, PA) lost in the first
round 6-0, 6-0. Stutzman fell 6-1, 6-2 in the third bracket, while
Jeff Morcum (Waymart, PA) and Michael Henao (Dover, NJ)
were also dismissed in their initial matches.
