to DeSales in Season Opener
Byerly Wins Both #1
Singles and Doubles
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s tennis team opened its season with a 6-3 loss
to DeSales University on Saturday. Senior Warrior Mike Byerly
(West Milton, PA) claimed victory in both number-one singles
(6-2, 6-1) and number-one doubles (8-3).
Byerly,
a second-team all-conference player last season, won the top doubles
match with his partner, sophomore John Stutzman (Williamsport,
PA). Stutzman fell in number-two singles (6-1, 1-6, 6-4) to
DeSales’ Ernie Justice.
In number-three
singles, junior John Scarangello (Nazareth, PA) picked up
Lycoming’s third win (6-1, 6-2).
Head coach
John Dorner looks to seniors Nick Nastasi (Little Egg Harbor,
NJ) and Nick Dalessandro (Lewisburg, PA) and junior
Jeff Morcom (Waymart, PA) to elevate slots 4-6 as the season
progresses.
The Warriors’
next match is against conference foe FDU-Florham on Wednesday, March
28 at Bruce Henry Park in Loyalsock. The match starts at 3:00pm.
