Tennis Swept by Wilkes
Final Regular Season
Match This Saturday
WILKES BARRE,
Pa.—Lycoming’s men’s tennis team (0-5, 0-5) was swept by Wilkes
(4-2, 2-1) on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 9-0.
First doubles
had been a strong point for the Warriors, but Michael Byerly
(West Milton, PA) and John Stutzman (Williamsport, PA)
fell to Kyle Ungvarsky and Matt Kenney, 8-6. Colin Baier
(Montoursville, PA) and John Scarangello (Nazareth, PA)
followed with a 8-3 loss to Tom Miller and Cory Golden at the second
doubles spot. Wilkes’ Nick Williams and Salman Punekar gave the
Colonels a 3-0 lead with an 8-0 win over Jeffrey Morcom (Waymart,
PA) and Nicholas Dalessandro (Lewisburg, PA) at third
doubles.
Ungvarsky scored a 6-4, 6-4 win over Byerly in the number-one
singles match to extend Wilkes’ lead. Miller would then secure the
team win for the Colonels by topping Baier, 6-4, 6-2 at second
singles.
Stutzman fell 6-0, 6-1 at the third position, while Scarangello went
down 6-1, 6-0 at number-four. Nicholas Nastasi (Little Egg
Harbor, NJ) and Morcom could not spoil the sweep.
The Warriors final regular season
match will be at Scranton this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
