WARRIOR MEN’S TENNIS DROPS CLOSE MATCH

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team hosted FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference match. The Warriors split the singles matches with the Devils, but lost 2-of-3 doubles matches to fall to FDU by a score of 4-3. Lycoming falls to 0-2 both overall and within the conference. The Devils improve to 5-2 and 2-0.

Mike Byerly (So./West Milton, Pa.; Lewisburg) won a pair of matches for the Warriors. He defeated Arkady Smolyansky, 7-6, 6-3, at number-two singles and added an 8-4 victory at second doubles – teaming up with Ryan Horsley (Jr./Allegany, N.Y.; Allegany Central). Craig Ayers (Fr./Milton, Pa.; Milton) added a 7-6, 7-6 win at fourth singles, and John Scarangello (Fr./Nazareth, Pa.; Pen Argyl) chipped in a 2-6, 7-5, 7-5, win at sixth singles.

Lycoming will be back in action on Tuesday, April 5, when they travel to Susquehanna University.
