WARRIOR MEN’S
TENNIS PICKS UP FIRST WIN AT DESALES
CENTER
VALLEY, Pa. - The Lycoming College men’s tennis team traveled
to DeSales University, Wednesday afternoon, for a Freedom
Conference match. The Warriors won 3-of-6 singles matches and
2-of-3 doubles matches to record a 4-3 team victory. Lycoming
improves to 1-4 overall and 1-3 within the conference. The
Bulldogs fall to 2-4 and 0-2.
Kyle Bartz
(Jr./Stamford, Conn.; Ridgefield),
Peter Ruhl (So./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy), and Sam Trone
(Fr./Aspers, Pa.; Biglerville) each won singles matches for
the Warriors at the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots,
respectively. Bartz defeated Ryan Beller, 6-4, 6-0; Ruhl topped
Chris Cooper, 6-4, 6-1; and Trone swept Ernie Justice, 6-0, 6-0.
Trone and
Ruhl each won doubles matches as well. Trone teamed with
Jason Mathews (Sr./North Wales, Pa.; Christopher Dock) at
second doubles for an 8-4 win. Ruhl paired with Michael
Byerly (Fr./West Milton, Pa.; Lewisburg) at third doubles
for an 8-3 victory.
Lycoming
will return home for their next match on Saturday, April 3, when
they host Drew University at 1 p.m.
