LYCOMING MEN’S TENNIS NETS THIRD VICTORY

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team hosted Susquehanna University, Wednesday afternoon, for a non-conference match. The Warriors defeated the Crusaders, 6-1, to improve to 3-1 on the season. The three victories equal their season-total from a year ago. Susquehanna falls to 0-6 with the loss.

Lycoming opened the match by winning 2-of-3 doubles matches to claim the team point. Scott Moerschbacher (Sr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville) and Bernardo Urdaneta (So./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret School) were victorious at first doubles, 8-3. And Andy Slawecki (Jr./Trappe, PA; Perkiomen Valley) and Colin Gabler (Jr./Camp Hill, PA; Camp Hill) won in the third position, 8-5.

Moerschbacher, Urdaneta, and Slawecki were also winners in singles action. Moerschbacher won 6-2, 6-2, at first singles; Urdaneta won 6-0, 6-0, at second singles; and Slawecki won 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, at sixth singles. Joe Connell (Sr./Chambersburg, PA; Chambersburg) added a three-set win at fourth singles by scores of 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Jason Mathews (So./North Wales, PA; Christopher Dock) rounded out the team scoring with a 7-6(8-6), 6-2 win at fifth singles.

The Warriors are in action again on Saturday when they travel to the University of Scranton.
