WARRIOR MEN’S
TENNIS DEFEATS MONARCHS
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team picked up their
second win of the season, Thursday afternoon, defeating King’s
College 4-3. The Warriors split the singles matches with the
Monarchs, but won two-of-three doubles matches to claim the team
point and the victory. Lycoming is now 2-1 overall and 1-1 within
the MAC Freedom Conference. King’s falls to 4-4 and 1-1.
Scott
Moerschbacher (Sr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville)
and Bernardo Urdaneta (So./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret School)
got things started with an 8-5 win at first doubles. Andy
Slawecki (Jr./Trappe, PA; Perkiomen Valley) and Colin
Gabler (Jr./Camp Hill, PA; Trinity) added a key victory at
third doubles, winning a 7-5 tiebreaker to take the match 9-8.
Moerschbacher,
Urdaneta, and Slawecki also added singles victories to aid in the
Warriors’ victory. Moerschbacher won at first singles 6-2, 6-2;
Urdaneta won at second singles 6-2, 6-3; and Slawecki won sixth
singles in convincing fashion, 6-0, 6-0.
Lycoming will
be at home again for their next match, hosting Susquehanna
University on Wednesday, April 3, at 3 p.m.
