MEN’S TENNIS FALLS SHORT OF DESALES
CENTER VALLEY,
PA – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team traveled to
DeSales University, Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors got off to a
solid start winning the lone doubles point, but could not quite
close the deal falling 4-3 to the Bulldogs. Lycoming’s record
drops to 5-4 overall and 3-3 within the Freedom Conference.
DeSales improves to 7-6 and 3-3.
Scott
Moerschbacher (Sr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville)
and Bernardo Urdaneta (So./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret School)
teamed up for an 8-1 victory at first doubles. Eric Frey
(Sr./Williamsport, PA; Williamsport) and Joe Connell
(Sr./Chambersburg, PA; Chambersburg) notched the other doubles
win in the second position by the score of 9-8(7-4).
Urdaneta and
Frey were also winners in singles action. Urdaneta defeated his
opponent in the second position 6-2, 6-2. Frey won at third
singles when his opponent retired trailing 5-2 in the opening set.
The Warriors
are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Elizabethtown
College.
