TENNIS SNEAKS BY COLONELS
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA - The Lycoming College men's tennis team hosted Wilkes
University, Sunday afternoon, in a conference match postponed one
day due to rain. The Warriors split with the Colonels in singles
play and won two of three doubles matches to claim the 4-3 team
victory. With the win Lycoming improves to 5-2 overall and 3-2
within the MAC Freedom. Wilkes falls to 2-8 on the year.
Scott
Moerschbacher (Sr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville)
and Bernardo Urdaneta (So./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret School)
teamed up at first doubles to record an 8-2 victory. Andy
Slawecki (Jr./Trappe, PA; Perkiomen Valley) and Colin
Gabler (Jr./Camp Hill, PA; Trinity) then added an 8-2 win in
the third position to give the Warriors the lone doubles point
available.
In singles
play, Eric Frey (Sr./Williamsport, PA; Williamsport) won in
three sets in the third position; 6-2, 6-7(4-7), 6-2. Jason
Mathews (So./North Wales, PA; Christopher Dock) contributed a
two-set win at fifth singles; 6-3, 7-5. Slawecki added his second
victory of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-4 win at sixth singles.
