Men’s Soccer Wins in High Scoring Affair
Fouls Aplenty in Physical Match
Williamsport,
Pa. --- The Lycoming College Men’s Soccer team found themselves
in a fast paced, physical battle against the visiting Keystone
Giants. Junior Zach Tanner (Waynesboro, Pa.) was the
first to strike, scoring a mere 15 seconds into the match.
Keystone was not about to let that goal stand without making a
run at the net when Mukuka Kapilikisha scored just
twenty-two seconds later to tie the game at one all.
The excitement did not end there, as Joshua Ashton of
Keystone scored on a penalty kick, just out of the reach of
Lycoming goalkeeper Matt Klipp (Collegeville, Pa.). That
would be all the scoring for the Giants for the rest of the
match. Shortly after the PK, sophomore midfielder Paul
Boucher (Hauppauge, N.Y.) scored on a well played through
ball from Joe Pusateri (Rockville, Md.). Still working on
the adrenaline of scoring, Tanner struck twice to give himself a
hat trick for the day. Paul Boucher assisted the third goal of
the day scored by Tanner. This was not to be the end of Boucher
either, as he scored the fifth and final goal, beating the
keeper to the far post and burying the ball in the back of the
net. Five of the games seven goals were scored in the first nine
minutes of the game.
Penalties were also a big deal in the game, with four yellow
cards being dealt out to both teams and over twenty fouls being
handed out overall.
Lycoming Men’s Soccer returns to the pitch Tuesday September
12, 2006 as they travel to Juniata. Game time is set for 4:30
pm. The Warriors next home game is Saturday September 23 against
Elizabethtown College, kick off at 1:00 pm.
