LYCOMING MEN’S SOCCER FALLS IN CHAMPIONSHIP MADISON, N.J. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team traveled to Drew University, Saturday afternoon, for the Freedom Conference Championship match. The Warriors gave up a goal in the first half and two more in the second en route to a 3-0 loss to the Rangers. Lycoming completes the 2004 season with a record of 14-5-1. Drew improves to 14-5-1 while winning their fifth consecutive conference title. Matt Sidie got the Rangers on the board with a goal 28 minutes into the contest, placing a pass from Ian Klein into the upper right-hand corner of the net. Klein also assisted on Drew’s second goal, feeding Brian Dempsey just two minutes into the second half. Joe Favata added another goal in the 65th minute off an assist from Dan Wehrle. Jason Fesler (Sr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) started in goal for the Warriors and made five saves in 89 minutes. Dan Biggers made one save in net for the Rangers. “I’m proud of what this team accomplished this season,” said Lycoming head coach Scott Kennell. “Certainly we had hoped for a better result today, but that doesn’t make the season any less of a success.”
