SHUTS OUT NEUMANN IN SEASON OPENER

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team
opened the 2004 season, Saturday afternoon, hosting Neumann
College for the opening game of the Lyco Kickoff Classic. The
Warriors were impressive in their debut scoring four goals
without allowing the Knights one.
Junior
Jeff Kocher (Churchville, Md.; C. Milton Wright) led the
offensive attack with three goals in the contest. His first came
20 minutes into the match off an assist from Jason Mathews
(Sr./North Wales, Pa.; Christopher Dock). Kocher struck
again seven minutes into the second period, heading a throw-in
by Zach Tanner (Fr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) to the
back of the net. He completed the hat-trick with 11 minutes to
play converting an assist from Ryan Wertz (Jr./Middletown,
Pa.; Middletown). Tanner completed the scoring, recording
his first collegiate goal in the 87th minute.
Andrew Rampulla (Jr./Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Cumberland Valley)
assisted on the play.
Jason
Fesler (Sr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley)
tallied the shutout in goal for
Lycoming, making three saves.
The Warriors
will play Chowan College Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
Chowan fell
to Susquehanna University in their first game by a score of 4-0.
Nate Snyder scored three goals to lead the Crusaders.
