WARRIOR MEN’S SOCCER DEFEATS FDU-FLORHAM
Secures Third Seed for Freedom Conference Playoffs

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team hosted FDU-Florham, Saturday afternoon, for an important Freedom Conference match. The winner of the contest would advance to the conference playoffs, while the loser would no longer have control of their own destiny. The Warriors posted one goal in the first half and exploded for three more in the second half as they cruised to a 4-1 victory. Lycoming improves to 13-4-1 overall and 5-2 within the conference with the win. The Devils fall to 9-8 and 3-4.

As the third seed for the playoffs, the Warriors will travel to DeSales University, the number-two seed, for their semifinal match on Tuesday, November 2. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Drew University is the number one seed for the tournament and will host fourth seeded Wilkes University, at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Dan Jackson (So./Windsor, N.J.; Lawrence) scored the Warriors’ first goal, unassisted 30 minutes into the match. Zach Tanner (Fr./Waynesboro, Pa.; Waynesboro) tallied a second goal and the eventual game-winner just six minutes into the second half. Andrew Weber (Jr./Ambler, Pa.; Upper Dublin) assisted on the play. Weber added an unassisted insurance goal 19 minutes later to give Lycoming a 3-0 advantage.

FDU broke the shutout in the 80th minute when Yaly Kloepper scored off a pass from Brian Baldwin. Jeff Kocher (Jr./Churchville, Md.; C. Milton Wright), however, pushed the Warriors’ margin back to three with a goal in the closing minutes. Peter Ruhl (Jr./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) assisted on the play.

Jason Fesler (Sr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) went the distance in goal for Lycoming, making three saves. Jaryd Drucker started in goal for the Devils. He made 11 saves and allowed three goals in 72 minutes. Greg Belza played the final 18 minutes in net, allowing one goal.
