LYCOMING MEN’S SOCCER BLANKS SCRANTON SCRANTON, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team traveled to the University of Scranton, Wednesday evening, for a key Freedom Conference match. The Warriors strengthened their bid for a playoff berth by defeating the Royals 2-0. The victory boosts Lycoming’s record to 12-4-1 overall and 4-2 within the conference. Scranton falls to 3-10-3 and 0-4-2. After a scoreless first half, the Warriors scored the only goal they would need when Jeff Kocher (Jr./Churchville, Md.; C. Milton Wright) headed in a corner kick by Ryan Wertz (Jr./Middletown, Pa.; Middletown). The goal came at the 57:24 mark of the match. Just six minutes later, Peter Ruhl (Jr./Muncy, Pa.; Muncy) gave Lycoming a cushion blasting in a goal from 16 yards out off an assist from Kocher. Jason Fesler (Sr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) was stellar in goal for the Warriors making 11 saves to record his eighth shutout of the season. David Keib made four saves in net for the Royals. Lycoming will host FDU-Florham on Saturday, October 30, for their final regular season contest. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.
