WARRIOR MEN’S SOCCER UPSETS WILKES EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team traveled to Wilkes University, Thursday afternoon, for their first Freedom Conference match of the season. The Colonels entered the game ranked eighth in the region fresh off a 2-1 upset of defending conference champion Drew University. It was the Warriors, however, who would claim the upset in this game, scoring a first-half goal and recording their fifth shutout of the season for a 1-0 victory. Lycoming improves to 5-1-1 overall, while Wilkes falls to 4-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Troy Watson (Jr./North East, Md.; Rising Sun) scored the lone goal of the contest at the 26:29 mark of the first half. Watson slid the ball past Colonel goalkeeper Dominik Proctor after gathering in a crossing pass from Chris Mason (Jr./Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Cumberland Valley). Jason Fesler (Sr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) went the distance in goal for the Warriors, making four saves. The shutout was his fourth of the season and lowers his goals-against-average to 0.60. Proctor also made four saves in goal for Wilkes. Lycoming returns to action on Saturday, September 25, when they travel to Lincoln University for a non-conference match.
