LYCOMING MEN’S SOCCER SHUTS OUT KING’S

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team hosted King’s College, Tuesday afternoon, for a key Freedom Conference match. The Warriors scored a goal in each half and continued their strong defensive play posting their third consecutive shutout for a 2-0 victory. The win moves Lycoming’s record to 10-3-1 overall and 3-1 within the conference. The Monarchs fall to 6-7 and 2-2.

Dan Jackson (So./Windsor, N.J.; Lawrence) got the Warriors off to a fast start, heading in a corner kick from Phil Kratochvil (Jr./Bel Air, Md.; C. Milton Wright) in the eighth minute.

Lycoming extended their advantage to 2-0 midway through the second half, when Tony Komons (Fr./Frederick, Md.; Frederick) was fouled in the box and the Warriors were awarded a penalty kick. Kratochvil converted the free kick, placing it in the lower right corner of the net.

Jason Fesler (Sr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) had a stellar game in goal for Lycoming, making 11 saves including one on a penalty kick late in the second period to preserve the shutout. The shutout was Fesler’s sixth of the season. He has now played 251 consecutive minutes in net without allowing a score.

Dan Upton (Jr./Bloomsburg, Pa.; Bloomsburg) was in goal for King’s, making eight saves.

The Warriors play again on Saturday, October 16, when they travel to Drew University.
