MEN’S SOCCER RETURNS TO WIN COLUMN WITH SHUTOUT
Kocher Sets
Single-Season Assist Record
BRYN ATHYN, Pa.
– The Lycoming College men’s soccer team traveled to Bryn
Athyn College, Monday afternoon, for a non-conference match. The
Warriors dominated the Blaze en route to a 7-0 shutout. Lycoming
improves to 10-2 overall with the victory.
Jeff Kocher
(So./Churchville, Md.; C. Milton Wright)
got things started for the Warriors with an unassisted goal in
the third minute. Troy Watson (So./North East, Md.; Rising
Sun) added a goal in the 15th minute off an
assist from Kocher. Paul Zippel (So./Cherry Hill, N.J.;
Cherry Hill) tallied a third goal for Lycoming in the first
half off a pass from Watson.
In the second
half, Andrew Rampulla (So./Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Cumberland
Valley) scored two goals – one in the 49th
minute and the other in the 80th minute. Kocher
assisted on the first of Rampulla’s scores. Zippel and Watson
each scored a goal in the second half, as well. Zippel’s
second score of the game came in the 69th minute off
an assist from Kory Wertz (Sr./Middletown, Pa.; Middletown).
Watson’s second goal came off an assist from Kocher in the 71st
minute.
Jason Fesler
(So./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley)
played the first half in goal for the Warriors, making five
saves. Mike Byerly (Fr./Lewisburg, Pa.; Lewisburg) made
three saves during the second half for Lycoming.
Kocher’s
three assists in the match give him 12 assists for the season,
setting a new single-season record for the Warriors.
The Warriors
are at home tomorrow afternoon, hosting Valley Forge Christian
College. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
