LYCOMING MEN’S SOCCER WINS EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE MATCH

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team made history, Sunday afternoon, defeating Baruch College, 6-3, to extend their winning streak to eight matches. The streak in the longest in the 46-year history of the men’s soccer program surpassing the previous mark of seven set in both 1992 and 1994. The Warriors are now 8-1 overall this season.

Lycoming wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Andrew Rampulla (So./Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) scored an unassisted goal in the first minute of play. Troy Watson (So./North East, Md.; Rising Sun) quickly extended the advantage to 2-0 with a goal in the ninth minute off an assist by Paul Zippel (So./Cherry Hill, N.J.; Cherry Hill). Rampulla tallied his second goal of the game in the 23rd minute. Joe Balduino (Sr./Washington, N.J.; North Warren Reg.) assisted on the play. Jeff Kocher (So./Churchville, Md.; C. Milton Wright) added one more goal just prior to the half to make to score 4-0 in favor of the Warriors. Jason Mathews (Jr./North Wales, Pa.; Christopher Dock) recorded the assist.

In the second half, Kocher added two more goals, both off passes from Balduino, to push Lycoming lead to 6-0. Baruch made things interesting at the end by scoring three goals in the final 10 minutes, but it was not enough as time ran out with the final score 6-3.

Jason Fesler (Jr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) recorded seven saves in goal for the Warriors, while allowing three goals.
