WARRIOR
MEN’S SOCCER SHUTS OUT MARYWOOD
SCRANTON, Pa.
– The Lycoming College men’s soccer team picked up a
non-conference victory, Thursday afternoon, at Marywood
University. The Warriors scored two goals in the first period
and exploded for five more in the second while shutting the
Pacers out. Lycoming improves to 12-4 with the win, while
Marywood falls to 2-10 on the season.
Jeff Kocher
(So./Churchville, Md.; C. Milton Wright)
got things started for the Warriors, scoring a goal in the 18th
minute off an assist by Ryan Wertz (So./Middletown, Pa.;
Middletown). Kocher went on to add an assist in the first
half and two goals in the second half. Andrew Rampulla
(So./Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Cumberland Valley) recorded two
goals and an assist in the match. Troy Watson (So./North
East, Md.; Rising Sun) and Stephen Ajayi (Fr./Bensalem,
Pa.; Bensalem) accounted for Lycoming’s other two goals.
Ryan Wertz
ended the match with two assists. Kory Wertz (Sr./Middletown,
Pa.; Middletown), Jason Mathews (Jr./North Wales, Pa.;
Christopher Dock), and Andrew Weber (So./Ambler, Pa.;
Upper Dublin) also tallied assists in the contest.
Jason Fesler
(Jr./Carlisle, Pa.; Cumberland Valley)
went the distance in goal for the Warriors, making one save and
recording the shutout.
Kocher’s
seven points in the match give him 55 for the season, setting a
new single-season record for Lycoming. That is the third record
Kocher has broken this season, having already set new marks for
single-season assists (15) and career-assists (24).
Lycoming will
play again on Sunday, October 26, when they travel to SUNY-Purchase.
