LYCOMING MEN’S
SOCCER PLAYS WELL, COMES UP SHORT AT PENN STATE-ALTOONA
ALTOONA, PA –
The Lycoming College men’s soccer team took a break from their
conference schedule to travel to Penn State-Altoona, Wednesday
afternoon. The Warriors played well but could not find the back of
the net, eventually falling to the Lions 1-0. Lycoming falls to
4-5-2 overall. Penn State-Altoona improves to 6-1-2.
The two teams
played scoreless for nearly 84 minutes before Jared Bucher lifted
a ball over the head of the Warriors’ goalkeeper with just more
than six minutes to play for the 1-0 victory.
Jason Fesler
(So./Carlisle, PA; Cumberland Valley)
made 14 saves in goal for Lycoming.
“We played
extremely well today against a very good team,” said head coach
Scott Kennell. “Despite the outcome, this game was a tremendous
positive for our team. Penn State-Altoona is one of the best teams
in the region, but we played up to our potential and stayed with
them the entire game. Today was an indication of what this young
team can do as they continue to improve this season and in years
to come.”
The Warriors
return to conference competition on Saturday, October 5, when they
host Delaware Valley College. The match is scheduled to begin at 1
p.m.
