MEN’S SOCCER TOPS LINCOLN
LINCOLN
UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team took
a break from conference play, Tuesday afternoon, to take on
Lincoln University. The Warriors scored two goals in each half
to cruise to a 4-1 victory. With the win Lycoming improves to
6-9-2, while the Lions fell to 9-4-1.
The Warriors
got off to a fast start with goals by Troy Watson (Fr./North
East, MD; Rising Sun) and Jeff Kocher (Fr./Churchville,
MD; C. Milton Wright) in the first half. Watson’s goal
came unassisted. Brad Martin (So./Annapolis, MD; Broadneck)
assisted on Kocher’s score.
Lincoln cut
Lycoming’s lead in half early in the second half on a goal by
Rosevelt Bele. The Warriors, however, regained their two-goal
cushion on a goal by Vance Kennedy (Fr./Port Royal, PA;
Juniata) off a pass from Kocher. Phil Kratochvil (Fr./Bel
Air, MD; C. Milton Wright) added an insurance goal of a
crossing pass from Ian Kauffman (Jr./Lewisberry, PA; Red
Land).
Sean
Cunningham (Fr./Pitman, NJ; Pitman)
received the start in goal for Lycoming and made four saves.
“This was a
good win for us. They are a very good team and I think we
surprised them a little,” said Lycoming head coach Scott
Kennell. “We played very well, another glimpse of this
team’s potential. Hopefully we can build some momentum from
today’s win and finish strong in our final two games.”
The Warriors
will play again on Thursday versus FDU-Florham at a site to be
determined.
